What we have learned so far is very important to the transformation of our lives to become more Christ-Like men through the renewal of our minds. Transformation is the work of the Spirit and it happens by the renewal of our minds. We participate in the renewal work and He does the transformation.

We help by not being conformed to this world. We go against the tide. We govern what we watch and think – what we put into our minds and what we do with what we have already put in our minds. The Spirit is not going to choose what you watch on TV … you have to control that and make the choices for the results you want.

So yesterday I said we would talk about the most important part of our work of renewal. Actually is it all important – but this is life changing. We talked about getting the garbage out … and keeping new garbage from coming in … but in its place we can put in what will actually help us and change us – AND THAT IS THE WORD OF GOD.

One of the most valuable tools that helped me get through the withdrawal phase and deal with fantasy was my using memorized Scripture. It’s late and you cannot get to sleep. Don’t get up and grab your bible … don’t turn the light and try to turn on your wife. Don’t go off and masturbate. Lay there are meditate on Scripture. Quote memorized passages of the bible. Look at what these passages teach us … Psalm 119:9 and 11

*“How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”*

* *

Hiding the word of God in your heart means memorization. So you can bring it up at anytime and allow the word itself to help you. But, you say, “How can memorizing bible passages help me … this isn’t vacation bible school we are talking about its my life and all I love and hold dear is on the line?”

Look at this verse … Hebrews 12:4

*“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”*

The word of God helps to keep us pure and it is like God’s scalpel. It cuts through the bull we normally tell ourselves. It is living and active. It has power because it is the word of God

Everyone of us ought to be memorizing passages of the Bible. What passages? I am glad you asked. I am attaching a pdf file of verses that I think you should start with. Go slow … get one down cold before moving to the next. Begin reciting what you have learned as you are trying to go to sleep.

*Unleash the Word in your mind and it will help you be renewed!*
