*Wednesday 9.26.12 – Transformation # 2* * * *[image: Inline image 2] *

So far we have learned …

If we stop being conformed to this world by eliminating from our lives what it offers.

If we start renewing our minds by being filled with the Spirit using the Word of God.

The word “metamorphosis” is used in another passage to talk about us. That passage is 2 Corinthians 3:17-18. It will help add to our understanding of this process of God changing us …

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, *are being transformed* into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”

I want to spend the rest of this week on this verse because it tells us a lot. It starts with the statement that the Lord (that would be Jesus) is the Spirit. They are two different parts of the one God but completely equally God. So having the Spirit in you is the same as having Jesus in you. And then it says that where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom.

That is one clear reason why I believe that you can be free from sexual sin. That is what the Lord wants and His presence in you can make that happen. He will give us the freedom we long for. But notice what it tells us to be doing.

“We all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord …” Picture yourself looking at the Lord … who wants to set you free and has the power to do that … but there is a veil over your face. You are trying to hide something from him. There is something separating you from Him. We need to unveil our faces. We need to have confessed our sin.

Then with an unveiled face we behold the glory of the Lord. Not asking for anything. Not crying out for more forgiveness … which has already been given you. But just sitting there beholding His glory.

This is a call for us at times to just sit and be still before the Lord and in our minds eye look at Him and see His glory. As we do that there will be some transformation taking place. We stare at the TV for hours and mostly it is teaching the values of the world. Try turning the TV off and sit there with your eyes closed and see yourself coming before Jesus. Then sit and worship Him and behold Him. Transformation will happen … we will be being transformed … day by day by the Spirit.
