Prayers for Purity.2

Here are the seven prayers I recommend you learn and use.

Every man whether he struggles with sexual brokenness should be praying these prayers on a daily basis if he wants to become a more Christ-like man and grow in his relationship with God.

  • The Prayer of Confession
  • The Prayer of Surrender
  • The Prayer of being Filled with the Spirit
  • The Prayer for my Mind
  • The Prayer for my Body
  • The Prayer of Spiritual Warfare
  • The Prayer of Complete Surrender

Remember everyday we are in a battle. We have 3 enemies that never give up and are always seeking to destroy us. We have only one choice and that is to fight this battle with the weapons God has given us or lose this battle and live in defeat.

1 Peter. 5:8 – “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

Ephesians. 6:12 – “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

James 4:7 – “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”*

1 John 4:4 – “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

It will take some time but eventually you will learn these prayers and be able to pray them on your own. They need to become YOUR prayers, coming from your heart with sincerity and honesty. That takes time. These are simply examples of what I have been praying and there in nothing sacred about the words we pray unless of course we are actually praying the words of Scripture.

Because of the healing that I have experienced through the past 7 years and 10 months I do not pray all of these everyday.

The basic THREE that I still pray everyday are the ones that come from

  • Romans 12 – Offering My Body to God
  • Ephesians 5:18 and Galatians 5:15 Being filled with and walking in the Spirit and
  • Ephesians 6:10 and following putting on the full armor of God.

You will show God your heart by developing a consistent and disciplined prayer life. What do you need to cut out of your life in order to put in a consistent time of quality prayer. Turn off the television and video games. Go to bed earlier. Get up earlier and have that time alone with Him to connect with and embrace Him. It will be an important part of your recovery.
