Silent Night, Holy Night
Most people believe that the greatest miracle ever was Jesus raised from the dead. That certainly was the most far-reaching miracle because it means He can give new life to anyone who asks Him to be their Savior. But, that was not the greatest miracle. Some think it was God being born as a fully human baby, but I would argue that the greatest miracle of all time was 9 months before the birth of Jesus.
Whether you call Him the Son of God, the 2nd member of the Trinity or the Christ we are referring to God becoming a human being just like you are I are human beings. That is why I love this passage this time of year. Philippians 2:5-8;
Have this attitude in yourselves
which was also in Christ Jesus,
who, although He existed in the form of God,
did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
but emptied Himself,
taking the form of a bond-servant,
and being made in the likeness of men.
Being found in appearance as a man,
He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death,
even death on a cross.
The Son of God, 2nd member of the Holy Trinity who along with the Father and the Spirit has existed from eternity past, and was the Creator of everything that exists by speaking it into reality from nothing, who said let there be light and our sun was created. This Eternal, Immortal, Omnipresent and Omniscient being did not consider equality with God something He needed to hold on to.
Notice what it says next … He emptied Himself. That word means that of His own will He gave up everything that had to do with His being God and the Holy Spirit caused an egg in the womb of Mary to be fertilized and Jesus was conceived. The Son of God in the womb of Mary only consisted of 2 cells. Every 12 hours each cell splits and reproduces. And when Jesus was born those two cells had become 26 Trillion cells.
Yes, it may have been a Silent Night and a Holy Night when Christ was born, but the most astonishing thing ever is the Son of Man being conceived in the womb of Mary. Nothing so big has ever become so small. And all because He wanted to offer His life as the sacrifice for your sins and for the sins of the world.
Never allow the fears and shame of sexual addiction cause you to forget that. Christ has always loved you, loves you now and will love you forever. NOT based on what you do. His love is unconditional and is a free gift to us even though all of us have done so much to not deserve it. Which is why our salvation is because of His GRACE.
