How Much Faith do I Need for Healing from My Addiction?

 In Daily Encouragement

Normally, in the military, the higher rank one has achieved, the more power and authority he or she is given.  Well, in Jesus’s day I am fairly certain there were no she’s who attained the rank of centurion – a commander over 100 men or even any females in the Roman army.

I am guessing that if you were appointed to lead 100 Roman soldiers, you must have been an exemplary soldier yourself and a strong leader.  Such was the man who asked Jesus to heal his best servant who was dying.  We do not know his name, but he was well respected, and when he asked the Jewish Elders to go ask Jesus to come to heal his servant, they went.

They pleaded with Jesus and said that this centurion, let’s call him Bob, Bob was a Roman soldier who loved Israel and had even built them a synagogue.  They named it the Bob’s Synagogue because even back then buildings were often named in honor of a wealthy donor … like Solomon’s Temple.  It was just smart marketing.  Like I am sure that when the USA builds their new embassy in Jerusalem, there will be a Trump Tower built on top of it.

Bob is also a humble man.  He does not feel worthy to go to Jesus himself, so he sends some Jewish elders to ask Jesus to heal his servant.  As he sees Jesus coming toward his home he sends some friends to say to Jesus;

“Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.  For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

Jesus stops dead in his tracks and exclaims;

I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.

So, here is my point.  Jesus loves it when He sees people showing faith in Him.  God loves faith being demonstrated by his children.

What about you and your recovery?  Do you believe that God wants to bring healing to your sexual brokenness?  Do you believe that no matter what, He is never going to give up on you and that His mercies are fresh every morning?

God wants us holy, and He wants to see that we believe He is going to continue His work if we will ask for it and take the steps we need to take to make it happen.  Like reaching Up to Him every time we are being tempted.  Like asking Him for His means of escaping every temptation.  Like reaching out to others in your community who will give you help when you need it.

Begin to show your faith in prayers of Thanksgiving that God will do what He wants to do as long as you ask Him to do it, believing that He will.
