Have you ever been chased by someone or something? As kids, we played Tag You’re It and it was the most fun if you were the one being chased. There was excitement as you tried to outrun and out fake whoever was chasing you.
Also, around that time in 1962, a new TV show premiered called The Wild Kingdom. I loved that show especially if they were showing a pride of lions looking for a meal. I rooted for the beasts to snag the preys rear leg and then pounce on the back and bite their neck, bringing the animal down and breaking its neck. Pretty violent stuff for a 9-year-old and now I wonder why was I always rooting for the bad guys instead of the not so fleet of foot gazelle who had been cut from the herd?
When Israel was leaving Egypt, being freed from their slavery, there was a great relief. The Egyptians even gave them gold, jewels, and clothing. However, after they left and had traveled about 210 miles in 24 days till they came to the Straits of Tiran. Camped by the Red Sea they looked behind them and the entire army of Egypt was coming led by Pharaoh himself. The panicked and cried out seeing their deaths were about to happen.
However, Moses said to all the people;
“Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever. “The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent.”
Suddenly the pillar of cloud that was going before Israel to show them the way went from being in front of them to going behind them separating the Egyptians from Israel. The sea parted with a wall of water on the right and the left and the bottom became dry land and Israel passed through the Red Sea while God held the waters back. And, you know the rest of the story and that the Egyptian army tried to cross and all drowned in the sea.
If you feel like you have been a slave to your own lusts and maybe have even become addicted to sex I have good news for you. God wants to set you free. He has not given up on you and cast you away from His presence. His Holy Spirit dwells inside of you and He can give you the power to cross dangerous waters while the enemy of your flesh wants to consume you.
I can tell you what is missing. You are probably trying to do it on your own. You, because of your shame, are remaining in isolation. You are alone and afraid while Peter writes;
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
He has been breathing down your neck and using your isolation to keep you being an easy prey. You are reading this now because you have reached out to 180 Ministries. We are a community in which you can find healing through weekly accountability and daily support. We have two options for you.
