He Can’t Take His Eyes Off You – Blog

In 1967 Frankie Valli put out the song “Can’t take my Eyes off You.”  It was a huge hit and became a gold record. It’s about a boy who is in love and he cannot stop looking at this girl he loves.

That is what I think David is saying about our Good Good Father in these next verses in Psalm 139;

“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!

How vast is the sum of them!

If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.

When I awake, I am still with You.”

David is realizing, and so should we, that our Father is thinking about us all the time. The number of thoughts is greater than the number of grains of sand on all the beaches in all the world.  In other words, our Father not only has loved us before the creation of the world, is loving us now but will also love us forever.

Just before David writes these words he made another interesting statement;

“And in Your book, were all written

The days that were ordained for me,

When as yet, there was not one of them.”

Our Good Good Father not only can’t take His eyes off you, but He knows the number of days you will remain alive. The time of your death has already been predetermined. Every day you are alive God has ordained you to live in it.  Someday that final day will come and your soul and spirit will leave your body and Jesus will greet you and take you to heaven.  He said as much in John 14:2-3;

“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.”

So, God, who has loved you forever, lovingly watches you every day and when your days here are finished Jesus will greet you and escort you to heaven where He has a place that He has prepared for you.

This isn’t some fairytale or fable.  This is biblical truth direct from the Spirit writing through David and from the lips of Jesus.

Look, I know many of you are living in shame. You deeply regret you acts of sexual sin and feel so undeserving of God’s love.  You might even think God is done with you and you have lost your salvation because you have not been able to live a holy life. Join the crowd and the only person who has ever been able to do that is Jesus.  Everyone is a sinner.  All of what we think to be our righteous deeds are just “filthy rags.” (Isaiah 64:6)

You have not and cannot commit the unpardonable sin.  Our Good Good Father eagerly awaits the day when He will remove you from this fallen world with all of its sinful distractions.  He will remove your soul and spirit from our body of death and our sin nature will be obliterated. And, He will take us to a place where there is no sin, no sickness, no crime, no racism where all men and women will be equal with no discrimination.

Does it not make sense that we give ourselves completely to God every day?  That we participate in the work He wants to do in our lives?

  • We need to offer our bodies to Him daily as a living sacrifice.
  • We need to ask the Holy Spirit to fill us.
  • We need to ask the Holy Spirit to enable and empower us to walk in the Spirit so that we do not fulfill the desires of the flesh.
  • We need to put on the full armor of God.

Today, walk with God and follow His leading you in everything you think do and say. You are just too good to be true and He can’t take his eyes off you!
