Lie # 4 – “God Does Not Love You Anymore” – blog

We are all raised with the idea that we get what we deserve.  In other words, if we work hard and do the right things, we will be successful but if we goof off, cut corners, give up, lie, cheat and steal we will be punished and suffer.

However, we see exceptions to this “rule of life” all the time. Many very successful people have cheated their way into wealth and are even criminals while many very good people work hard, barely make ends meet, and seem to have achieved nothing of significance in life.

If we have this basic rule of life as part of our thinking and have become addicted to sexual behavior, then it would only make sense that God does not love us anymore.  In our worldly way of thinking it certainly seems even logical and our conscience condemns us as do other people who may have discovered we are sexually broken.

However, to believe that God has stopped loving you is to believe that your relationship with God is based on how good a person you can be and that has never been true.  God does not and has never loved us because we can be good.  God loves us and has always loved us because He wants to help us be good.  And, He will never stop trying.

This is what it means to be saved by grace and not of works as we are told in Ephesians 2:8-9;

“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

We are God’s children because He choose us before the creation of the world and has adopted us into His family. That is what Ephesians 1:4-5 tells us.  His choosing us was not based on how good we would be able to be but in spite of our sins.

1 Corinthians 1 makes this even more clear;

“…but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus…”

From a human standpoint, it would make sense that God has stopped loving us because of our sins.  Some of us have lost our wives, families, and friends because of sexual sins.  However, humans do not have the capacity for unconditional love.  Their patience wears out and our unfaithfulness wounds them deeply.

However, Gods love has always been and will always be unconditional.  His love for you is eternal.  It started when He chose you before the creation of the world and will continue forever throughout eternity.  He never keeps us because we are good enough to obey His commands.  We remain His because only He can save us from ourselves.

I know that is hard for many to believe but it is absolutely true and clearly taught in the Bible over and over again. Our enemy wants us to believe He no longer loves us so that we will be afraid of God and try to hide from Him.  Good luck with that because that too is impossible.

So, if you have been fleeing from the One who loves you unconditionally and eternally because of your sexual addiction you are running away from the only one who can help you and truly transform you.  Do a 180 and return to your Eternal Father and His Unconditional Love!!!
