Asking for Your Prayers – blog

I know you come to my emails and podcasts for encouragement and I love to share these messages with you.  However, this weekend is going to be a big event in my life relative to my own recovery and future ministry.

Friday night and 3 times on Saturday I will be speaking to about 80 men from the Bay Area Chinese Bible Church in Alameda CA.  I have had plenty of times to tell my story of brokenness and God’s ministry in my life from my sexual addiction.  In fact, I tell it every other week to new guys who show up at 180 at Vineyard Columbus.  So, about 25 times a year for 10 years … that is a lot.

I have also done a lot of teaching from the Bible to the men at 180 on Monday nights.  However, this will be the first time I will be the main speaker at a men’s event responsible for bringing 4 messages as well as preach twice on Sunday.  I love to speak and so that will be a joy for me to do however, what matters most is will the messages have an impact?  Will men who are secretly struggling with sexual brokenness believe they can get the help they need.

If the statistics are true, then 50 – 60% of the men will be sexually addicted.  That is probably high since this is a true Bible teaching fellowship with good fellowship.  However, only God knows.  I believe that 100% of all Christian men must learn to deal with sexual temptation so I know I will be speaking to their needs.  However, I do not want it to be up to me and my abilities.  I want to be completely yielded to the Spirit in hopes that He uses me in whatever ways He sees fit.

I believe there will be a lot of spiritual warfare happening and that is why, more than anything, I covet your prayers.  I have the faith to believe that the Spirit can do something amazing in the lives of these men.  Pray that the message will be clear, and men will be willing to take off their masks and tell the truth.

Pray that the Spirit of God will also move the hearts of the men who are not struggling to have compassion on their brothers and be willing to come alongside their brothers and help to bear their burdens.

Pray also for me to have boldness and speak only what the Spirit has for me to say.

I’ll give you an update on Sunday on how the conference went and how God has answered your prayers.
