Our World – A Deadly Place to Live … For Now ~ blog

Today, in the United States of America, we remember all of the veterans who served in the armed forces.  It was initially called Armistice Day because on the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month of the year 1918 World War 1 ended.  It was the “War to End All Wars” with a death toll of about 10,000,000 troops and 7,000,000 civilians although some estimates are as high as 37,000.000 in all.

In WW2 the numbers are even higher.  It is estimated that over 60,000,000 people died with 50,000,000 of them being civilians.

Now as many of you know, I grew up in a military family.  My grandfather was in the Army and fought in WW1.  My father was in the Navy and fought in the South Pacific as the gunnery officer on a USS destroyer.  Both of my brothers attended the Naval Academy and I was born at the Naval Hospital in Long Beach CA and grew up living wherever the Navy stationed my dad.

Our world today is still a place where there exists an immense amount of death and bloodshed.  Countries are still at war with one another and within countries, there are factions fighting against one another whose disputes go back thousands of years.

There is really only one War to End all Wars and that is described for us in the book of Revelations. Satan will gather all the armies of the earth to do battle against God’s people.  They will gather on the plain of Armageddon.  The Lord will arrive and destroy them all casting the devil and his cohorts into the Lake of Fire for 1000 years.

Then after the 1000 years, satan will be released and will try one more time to destroy the Lord and wipe out His people.  However, again … he fails and he and all his demons, as well as everyone who died apart from Christ, will be judged at the Great White Throne judgment.  They will be finally condemned forever and thrown into the Lake of Fire.

Then, after all sin and all evil has been removed from the earth, God is going to burn up the old earth and create a new heaven and a new earth.  All the ravages of war and sin will be burned up and completely destroyed and the earth and heavens will be made new again with not one iota of evil remaining.  Peter describes it this way in 2 Peter 3:10;

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.”

So, the good news is that eventually all sin and all evil will be destroyed and removed from us forever.  None of us will have a sinful nature living inside of us causing us to sin ever again.  Satan and his demons will be completely removed from our world, and we will be in heaven forever and ever and ever.

I am so grateful for all you have fought for freedom in this world doing battle with evil people who come to kill, maim and destroy.  I have lived for 66 years in a nation whose freedom was established by men and women fighting against the forces that would seek to rule over us for their own benefit.

However, I am most thankful for my Lord and Savior who did not count His equality with God something He had to hold on to.  But He emptied Himself and was born in human form and humbled Himself.  He lived in obedience to the Will of the Father and gave His life as a sacrifice for the sins of the world by dying on the cross in our place.

And because of that sacrifice for all of us and all of our sins, the Father has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the Name that is above every name so that at His name … the name of Jesus every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus the Christ is LORD!!!

And even though we live in a world divided and ruled by hate and evil.  Even though there is prejudice and racial discrimination and people putting up walls and tearing down walls it will all come to an end.  Satan and all his demons will be destroyed forever.  We will be given new and perfect bodies that will last forever with no sin or sickness.  And we will see how glorious our God is and how incredible an unending future He has for all of us.

Thank you, William Thomas Doyel and Wilbur Tenney Doyel and all those who have served and fought for our freedom.  But thank you Jesus most of all for the freedom you have for us both now while we are in this battle and forever in heaven!!!
