I like to post this every Christmas Eve. I will get back to how do we put to death the desires of our flesh like we are told to do in Romans 8. However, our focus should be on remembering and celebrating the birth of our Savior. Normally it is a time for celebration with family and friends.
However, for Mona and me it will be the first Christmas we will have spent without any children and grandchildren in 41 years – December 25th, 1979. So, instead of feeling bad because of this impact Covid-19 has and is making on our family…I choose to celebrate the birth of the Savior of the World and in the quietness where there is normally laughter, in the silence when there is normally the ripping of paper and is a simple meal instead of a feast I remember all that God has done for me and for all of you.
So, here is something I wrote several years back, and hope it puts a smile on your face and some joy in your heart. I love and pray for everyone who is part of 180 and thank you for being part of our growing family of Christians walking in the light.
T’was the night before Christmas
And inside my house
Not a creature was stirring
Except me and my mouse.
The kids were all sleeping
And so was my dear
When an icon appeared and said
Porn is right here.
With one month of sobriety
Temptation was fierce.
After all its been paid for
My Savior was pierced.
What’s one more sin
My flesh seemed to say
You can get off again
And repent the next day.
When out of nowhere
Whom should appear,
But the Spirit of Jesus
And my exit was clear
The choice was all mine
He seemed to say
“Do you want to eat puke?
Or have joy the for today?”
“It’s one or the other
So, what do you want?
My way of escape
Or another sex jaunt.”
I shut down the portal
And dropped to my knees
To thank Him and Praise Whom
I wanted to please
For who gives me life
And what gives me death
What creates sorrow?
And Who gives me breath?
He gave up His life
So that I could be free
Life’s better for all
When He controls me
So, I went off to bed
With the Lord in my sight
Merry Christmas to all
And to all a good night!
