The Eternal Riches of God’s Grace!!! ~ blog

 In Daily Encouragement

Have you ever stepped into a Pawn Shop? No, not a Porn Shop…but a Pawn Shop where people take items to sell usually because they need some fast cash. If there are some words that describe the typical pawn shop, I would say they are rather seedy, jammed pack with stuff people did not want any longer…or junk, and usually well smoked in.

That might be overstatement, but you would notice a huge difference between a pawn shop and a jewelry store. However, if you sell something to a pawn shop you can go back later, if financial favor has smiled upon you, and buy back what you sold…for a higher price of course.  That process of buying your merchandise back is called redeeming it or redemption.

Redemption is a good biblical word because it describes what God the Father has done for all of us through God the Son becoming a man and dying on the cross and involves God the Holy Spirit sealing us guaranteeing our inheritance in the future.

We are working our way through the longest sentence in the Bible, Ephesians 1:3-14; we come to this statement which is yet another of the spiritual blessings that God HAS given to us as part of our Salvation. So far, we have learned that…

  • We have been given every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ.

  • We were chosen by God the Father to be in Christ.

  • We were chosen before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight.

  • He loved us so much that He decided to adopt us into His family by His grace.

Now we move to the next spiritual blessing God has given to us…

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us.”

When it says we have redemption that means that the act of redeeming us has already happened. It is in the past tense because it is an accomplished deed and happened when Jesus Himself walked into satan’s pawn shop and redeemed you. The price was His life. That price for the sins of the world was the death of Jesus and the pouring out of His own blood. The sacrifice for sin had to be holy…or perfect.

When John the Baptist saw Jesus in John 1, he spoke these words…

“Look, the Lamb of God,

who takes away the sin of the world!”

Jesus, the eternal Son of God, became a man, lived a holy and sinless life, as only the Son of God could be able to do, and allowed His body to be slaughtered on the Cross to pay for…to redeem you from the clutches of sin and death.

So, we read that this spiritual blessing of Jesus redeeming us has already happened. You have been redeemed by the sinless life and sacrificial death of Jesus on the Cross. And when at a moment in time God gave you the faith and grace to believe, you put that faith in the death of Jesus and accepted His payment for your sins by shedding His blood and dying for you.

Then, Paul goes to the immediate result of you accepting Christ as your Savior…the forgiveness of sins. Which begs the question…

How many of my Sins have been forgiven?

And this my friends is a question with which almost every person who has become addicted to sexual sin wrestles. Our sins…there seem to be so many of them. We have fantasized, looked at porn, acted out sexually for years if not decades. If every time we saw a woman and thought about her sexually, we were committing adultery in our minds then how many times over have we done that in the years or decades of our lives?

I don’t know the answer to that and neither do you. However, the enemy of our soul sure wants to make us believe that our sins have far exceeded the limits of His love and grace. That God no longer loves you and you are no longer one of His children. What a load of crap he spews at us hoping we will believe him instead of what this verse is telling us.

Jesus has redeemed us. His death was the sufficient payment for all of your sins and for the sins of the world. In fact, that is exactly what the apostle John writes in 1 John 2:2;

“He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins

and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”

Did you get that…His sacrifice of His perfect and sinless body on the cross has atoned for every single one of your sins…but also for the sins of the whole world. And if you were to take the sins of the whole world for all time and compare them to your sins your sins are but a drop in the bucket an atom in the world.

The point is not how many of your sins have been paid for because the biblical answer is simple…

That is right…all of them…from start to finish…from birth to death…whether they be by thoughts, words, and deeds every single one of your sins past, your sins present, and your sins future have been paid for by the sacrificial death of Jesus.

Therefore, if you have placed your faith in Christ to be your Savior and have accepted His death on the cross as payment for all of your sins, and believe in His resurrection from the dead proving He is God…then you have eternal life as the free gift of God…

“…in accordance with the riches of God’s grace

that he lavished on us.”

Stop wallowing in your doubt. Stop listening to the lies of the Lier in Chief and believe the Word of God when it clearly says that Jesus has completely forgiven ALL OF YOUR PAST SINS, ALL OF YOUR PRESENT SINS, AND ALL OF YOUR FUTURE SINS.

Now go and walk filled with and empowered by the Holy Spirit toda!
