  1. So what do you have to say in the book of Revelation when it talks about their names will be blotted out out of the book of life because to blot out something means that it has to be there at one time so that is telling me that we can lose our salvation

    1. You are making an assumption and drawing a conclusion from the passage that is not what the passage is teaching. Look carefully at it again…

      “The one who overcomes will be clothed the same way, in white garments;
      and I will not erase his name from the book of life,
      and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.”

      The assumption you are making is that because the person speaking, who is clearly Jesus in His Glory according to chapter 1, says He will not erase the one clothed in white garments from the book of life. You then jump to the conclusion that must mean there will be those whose names will be erased from the book of life. However, does He say He is going to erase anyone from the book of life…either in this passage or any other…the answer is no, He does not say that.

      Here are the other passages in Revelations where this idea of the book of life is mentioned…

      • Revelation 3:5 – The one who overcomes will be clothed the same way, in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

      • Revelation 13:8 – All who live on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written since the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slaughtered.

      • Revelation 17:8 – “The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and go to destruction. And those who live on the earth, whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will wonder when they see the beast, that he was, and is not, and will come.

      • Revelation 20:12 – And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.

      • Revelation 20:15 – And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

      • Revelation 21:27 – and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

      • Revelation 22:19 – and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which is written in this book.

      That is faulty logic at best and twisting of Scripture at the worst. Now compare that with what Jesus said in John 10:28-30;

      And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

      My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.

      I and my Father are one.
