Dear 180 Community,

Following the recent death of our Founder and President, John Doyel, we ask your help in spreading the word that 180 Ministries continues to move forward with the day-to-day work of the ministry.  We remain resolutely faithful to our purpose:

180 Ministries exists to create safe communities where men find freedom from porn addiction and sexual brokenness.

As we work through the transition following John’s death, here are some answers to frequently asked questions:

Following John’s death, who is leading the ministry?

The ministry is being led jointly by Rob Turner, who is serving in a full time capacity as Ministry Director and Mark Kesler as Board Chair.

In addition, the 180 Board also includes: Joshua Sevick (Treasurer), Jon Mullineaux (Member at Large), and David “Scotty” Davidson (Member at Large).  All our group leaders continue to lead their groups with the coordination of Rob and Mark.

Is the ministry still active and healthy?

Yes. There are many aspects of ministry health but one measure is the consistent number of men participating:

  • We continue to host an average of 70 men and 9 groups at our weekly 180 Monday Night meeting hosted at Vineyard Columbus.
  • In addition, we have 13 Online Support Teams (OST’s) which serve 200+ men, including a group of 16 men in Brazil.
  • We also have church-based groups at Delaware Grace Church and One Church of Gahanna.

Should I continue giving financially to 180 Ministries?

Yes.  50% of our operating budget comes from charitable giving.  Our ministry operating expenses remain the same. This includes salary for Rob as he serves 180 Ministries full time through the next six months of our transition following John’s death.  In addition, 180 Ministries continues to maintain our 501c3 status.

What ministry accountability is in place?

Yes. 180 Ministries continues to operate in close partnership and with Vineyard Columbus and Pastor Steven Van Dop.  We highly value the accountability which is provided by this partnership.

Who do I talk to if I need help in starting or continuing in my recovery?

Reach out to us via the and we will respond for follow-up.

What changes will I see in the ministry?

There may be some changes in our website but we continue with our commitment for relevant and practical teaching for our Monday Night live sessions.  OST groups will continue with little change.

What will 180 Ministries be focusing on for the next 4-6 months?

Rob and the Board are focused right now on transitioning and consolidating out day-to-day processes.  Our focus will continue to be:

  • Intake of new men to the program.
  • Excellent small group experiences.
  • Focused support for new men to help them reach 90 and 180 days of participation in the program.
  • Consolidating and simplifying our administrative functions and bookkeeping.

Who can I talk to if I have questions about 180 Ministries?

We welcome questions and suggestions.  If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to Mark Kesler or Rob Turner
